3 places where you can make passive money with your artwork

My mom always told me: ‘’If you have a hobby where you are passionate about, turn it into a career.’’ We all probably came to a point in life where we wanted to turn our hobby into a profitable business. Imagine that you can do that: having a job you like, having the freedom to go to the supermarket in the afternoon to avoid those long lines, purchasing more clothes because you can afford it.

Yes, I have been there. I am still in that exact position. So how can a 19-year old girl like me make more revenue than her friends that have a part-time job?! That is because I make money with my artwork.

Making money with my art in a passive way allows me to combine my study with school. A lot of my classmates have a hard time combining education with their job because they are sticking to a schedule. For them, it is tough to balance their school/work/and personal life.

That is a problem I don’t have (And you won’t either after you start to make money from the places I listed). I can combine my school, my business and my personal life way more natural.

But I don’t put all my eggs in one basket. I have more than one revenue stream where I can make a profit from. In today’s blog post, I will discuss the top 3 most profitable places to make money with your artwork, so you can finally dump your 9 to 5 and start having a job that you love.

1.Teach other people your skill on Skillshare

Skillshare is an online platform/classroom with over 3million students and 17.000 classes where you can almost learn every skill you want.  You can learn cooking, crafting, sewing, leadership skills, photography, graphic design, wellness, etc. You can almost learn every skill you want.

I use Skillshare frequently, and I am amazed by all the classes they are teaching.

Pssst: Want to check out those Skillshare classes? Click this link to get two free premium months. No payment required. Or go to Skillshare.com and use the coupon code CREATIVESIDE.

How will Skillshare help you to make money?

Because you can almost learn every skill you want, that also means you can teach every skill you want. That’s right. You can become a teacher on Skillshare.

As you can see, teachers can earn up to $40.000 a year. Fourthy-thousand dollars! That is insane!

How can you earn?

Once you signed up for the teacher program, you can earn money by teaching people your new skill. You don’t have to teach a 2-hour class. Most of the classes take up to 30-40 minutes.

You will get paid for every student that signs up for your class. Plus, you will also get a referral link, so you will get paid extra when someone signs up for your class.

How to apply

You can sign up for Skillshare in 2 ways:

Coupon Code:

Go to Skillshare.com and go to the tab ”Go Premium”. From there, select the $15/month option. Now you will get redirected to the checkout page, where it says you have to pay $15. Fill in every form, and then apply the coupon code CREATIVESIDE. And voila! 2 free premium months.

Through the referral link:

Click this link. Then, you will see this small sign up form. Then, you will get redirected to the payment options. Don’t select the $0/month payment plan. If you do that, you won’t get access to all the classes. To unlock the 2 free months, you have to select the paid payment plan. Don’t worry, you won’t get charged within the first 2 months, and you can cancel anytime you want. Yes, also in your 2 free months period 😉

Click the Start Your Free Month button. From there, you will get redirected to the checkout page. Fill in all the forms, and if you are able to fill in the coupon code, make sure to fill in CREATIVESIDE.

Congratulations, now you opened a premium Skillshare account for free. You can cancel anytime you want, and you won’t be charged now.

Then, go to the footer and click on ‘’Become a teacher’’. From there, you will get redirected to the teacher page for any further instructions.

Once you applied, you are ready to become a teacher on Skillshare. Cool huh?

2. Sell your work on Etsy

You probably have heard of Etsy. In case you haven’t: Etsy is an online marketplace that allows independent artists to sell their artwork. You can buy anything on Etsy: Clothes, Frames, Signs, Printables, etc.

‘’Etsy is a global creative commerce platform. We build markets, services and economic opportunity for creative entrepreneurs.

Within our markets, millions of people around the world connect, both online and offline, to make, sell and buy unique goods. We also offer a wide range of Seller Services and tools that help creative entrepreneurs start, manage and scale their businesses. Our mission is to reimagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world, and we’re committed to using the power of business to strengthen communities and empower people. ’’

Visit this page to read further, and to read more about Etsy.

As you have read, you can create unique goods to sell them online. So basically you have your marketplace inside Etsy. And it only costs $0.20 to list a product.

But I got the chance to negotiate with Etsy, and they will give you 40 free listings if you sign up through this link. That will also give me 40 listings, so we can both sell for free. Isn’t that amazing?!

I use Etsy myself to sell my digital printables, and I love it! Selling custom printables allows me to have an extra income source, which will enable me to save money on future costs. And that only at 19 years old.

Here are some printables I am currently selling in my shop. If you like it, make sure to give my store a favorite. I would appreciate it.

Have you ever wanted to print your design on mugs, pillows, clocks, phone cases, etc.? I had that dream too for a long time, but I got overwhelmed by a lot of complications like:

  • How do I print my designs on that stuff?
  • What if the stuff breaks while shipping?
  • How do I ship those articles?

And the list went on and on.

But it doesn’t have to be like that. Let me introduce you to your new best friend: Printful. Printful is a print on demand website that allows you to sell your prints on mugs, pillows, iPhone cases, blankets, you name it!

Even better: Within the first 30 minutes I listed my mugs, they got sold twice!
