In this article, I want to talk about passive income on Etsy. As you know, passive income allows you to create a product once, and then you can sell it over and over again.

There are millions (3 million to be exact) Etsy sellers active on Etsy. And only a tiny amount of them makes a consistent income. And even less earn a full-time salary.

If you check out high selling Etsy shops, you will see that most of the time, they sell passive products.

What is passive income?

Passive income means that you do the work once, and keep getting paid. For example; Printables on Etsy. Let me show it to you in this graph I created:

In case you need new glasses just like me:

First, you create the printable. After you have done that, you export it and upload it to your Etsy shop. When you get a sale, your customer can download it automatically. This means you don't have to product, package, and ship your printable. You can sit back, relax or even do a happy dance.

Before we are going to start your journey about passive income on Etsy, I should educate you first. That is why I will give you the 4 pros of passive income on Etsy. Since I have added a passive income stream to my Etsy shop, I can't live without.

Let me walk you through the 4 benefits of passive income on Etsy:

1.Your product can be sold over and over again without requiring extra work

When you are selling passive products like printables, you can sell it over and over again without having to do anything once you published it. You only have to design it once, and then you can let it ‘’sit’’ there. This allows you to make money on autopilot.

2. You don’t have to ''make'' anything

When you are selling non-passive products, you’d need to create the product again every time you are selling something. This means that you can only sell the amount you can make in a day.

This means it is tough to grow your revenue.

But with passive products like printables, it is really easy to grow your revenue, since you can sell your products infinite times. The only thing you have to do is to create the product once. So actually you are not ‘’making’ anything consistently.

3. Passive income on etsy is a huge time saver

Since you are not consistently creating products, passive income on Etsy is a huge time-saver, because you don't have to keep creating products.

Once you created your passive product, you can upload it to Etsy as a digital download, and tada!

You don’t have to create products over and over again, so you will save you a lot of time.

You can choose to invest this time in something else:

  • Designing more passive products
  • Market your Etsy shop - Hello extra sales!
  • Going on a weekend trip
  • Spend more time with your family
  • Work fewer hours a week

4. You can quickly increase your revenue with passive products.

If you create a printable on Etsy and make a digital download of it, you only have to list it once, and you can let it sit there.

If a person purchases your printable, he can download it straight away. And since it is passive, the same design can be sold over and over again.

You can sell it one time a day, but also 1.000 times a day. This means you can quickly grow your revenue since no extra work is required.

Why is it different from physical products?

Tangible products are not automated. Let’s say you make necklaces. Every time someone buys a necklace from your shop, you have to create that same necklace again to keep your inventory in tact. This means you only can sell a limited amount of necklaces.

The only way to increase your income is to make more necklaces a day or to price your necklaces higher.

But, is it possible to create passive physical products?

It is! You don’t have to create printables only. In my free course Automate Your Etsy Sales, I will talk further about the free email course.
