And you might want to read this blog post until the end since I have a surprise for you.

But first… What is Skillshare?

Skillshare is an online platform with over 3.000.000 students (While I was making a video version of this blog post, they hit the milestone of 3.000.000!) and 17.000 classes where you can learn new skills. Since there are so many classes out there, I also bet there is a class for you ;)

These classes are divided into four different categories. Let me walk you through:

  • Creative: Here you can take classes like Drawing, Painting, Design, Photography, Hand Lettering, but also Music- and Film production.

  • Business: In this category, you can attend classes like Finance, Marketing Sales, Freelance and even more.

  • Technology: In this class, you can learn all about The Web- and Mobile development, IT security, Game Design and so on and so on.

  • Lifestyle: In this category, you can learn Teaching, Wellness, Culinary, Home Business and even languages.

Note: I only named a couple of classes in each category since there are so many more classes out there.

1. There is a class for everyone

As I already said; There is a class for everyone. So we already covered the first reason. If you want to learn a new skill, Skillshare has it. I learned how to create this card with Skillshare. This was my first attempt by the way.

If making money with your creativity is your purpose; Then your need Skillshare. That is why I am going to give you five reasons why you need to get your ass on Skillshare right now.

2. You can learn whenever you want

Since it is hosted online, it doesn’t require a schedule. For example, if you want to learn yourself DSLR photography, you could choose to attend a college. But that means you are stuck to a schedule.

With an online class like Skillshare, you can learn whenever you want. You can learn in the mornings, in the afternoons, even at midnight. And you can also learn wherever you want. You can learn from home, from a coffee shop, even from Hawaii.

That is what I really like about Skillshare. I don’t like it to get stuck to a schedule that hasn’t anything to do with my business since I am an entrepreneur and I want to spend my time wisely. If I have to follow a college or something, I have to travel, I have to attend that college, and that means that I have less time for other things.

What I also like about an online classroom, is that in you can pause the video and rewind. Ideal in case you missed something. With a normal class, you can’t do that.

3. You are supporting artists

You are supporting wonderful people who are trying to make a living by teaching other people new skills. I am a huge supporter of buying local and helping artists.

I once saw a sign outside a store that said: ‘’If you buy local you help support a family with getting food on the table, buy new clothes, make sure their kid can attend swimming lessons etc. But if you buy in a supermarket, you are only helping a CEO with buying his fifth land-house. ''

That’s something I 100% agree with. That’s the same for supporting artists. The reason I am on Skillshare is obviously to learn new skills. But also because I think it’s really important that people can make money with things they love to do. So if those people on Skillshare really want to make a living by learning other people new skills, Then I wouldn’t mind spending a couple of dollars a month to support their dreams.

Another important note: Those teachers out there are experts. That means that you are more likely to learn skills faster from Skillshare than YouTube

Pssst! Did you know I am also hosting a class on Skillshare about the easiest way to make money as an artist? You can check it out by clicking the button below. And yes, you will also get 2 free months through this link :)

4. Every class has its own small community

The fourth reason is that every class on Skillshare comes with a small community. So for example, if you want to learn how to write in Calligraphy, down below the video is a small community where you can see who else is taking that class.

And here’s also a small tab called projects where you can show your teacher your projects to let them know how you are doing so far. You just take a picture of your project and then upload it in the project tab. And you can also see other people their progress.

If you want to know if a class really suits you, but you don’t watch the whole class; You can just go to the projects tab. Then you can see if other people are making progress.

5. Most of the content on free platforms is outdated

The fifth reason why you should get your ass on Skillshare is that most of the content on Google is outdated. Let’s take for example the marketing category. Imagine you want to learn how to market your business on social media. Then you are going to Google and you search how you can market your business. Then you go for the highest ranking post. You are reading that post, and suddenly it says you have to market your business with Myspace. But Myspace is a dead platform. It died a couple of years ago and nobody is on it. Do you have any idea how this happened? That’s because the content is outdated. It was published from a couple of years ago. But at that time it was the best solution, and that’s why it is ranking high on Google.

But with Skillshare you don’t have that problem since their content is always up to date. The teachers are updating their content all the time to stay up to date so you can learn from the best tips.

Well, those were the five reasons why you need to get your ass on Skillshare as soon as possible. Especially if you want to make money with your business and creativity, then you really need Skillshare to be one step ahead of your competition.
